Calling The School District Representative

I called the school district and let them know of what I was told in regards to transportation for my child. I had to leave a message, but the woman over Special Needs children in the district called me back.

This is my child’s situation:
My child is transported from our home to school (and back), which is 50 miles (+/-) one way, four days a week. Our daughter goes to school there rather than in our local school district because of her needs, which have been spelled out in her IEP, which was signed and agreed upon by all representatives in attendance. Our local school district does not have the resources nor the staff to adequately teach and meet the needs of my child.

After explaining my reasons for calling, I was told that our district person (whom I was speaking to) was unaware of the changes that were being made to transportation. Now, how could my district representative be unaware of these changes? My child is not the only special needs child…and it is her job to know these things. But, this is exactly why I made the call now, and did not wait until August when school starts again.

Our district representative said that she would make calls and then get back to me.
