As a parent who has had to fight for my child’s rights, I understand that this is a never ending battle. I do however continually wonder why the special needs children continually have to fight in order to be educated or medically taken care of for any reason.
I just recently found out that my daughter who has to travel 2 hours each day to school will now be out of boundaries of a state school. There are no other programs for my child that meet her needs (even remotely) in our area. I will now begin the process of calling the school district, the state school for the deaf & blind, the state office of education and possibly the office of educations civil rights department.
I will be keeping you updated as to how this process is moving (or in some cases not moving) for me or more appropriately for my child.
