You will probably find this to be a simple yet very effective tool in combating the flip flopping aspect of the dyslexic mind. Perhaps you want to speak quickly because it seems impressive when others do it? Many individuals believe if they speak something quickly, he or she will impress their boss or other individuals he or she is speaking with. Also, by thinking about the given sentence thoroughly then speaking the sentence slowly, I will convey the message in the correct fashion almost all of the time.
VERB AGREEMENTS
This can be quite embarrassing in front of an employer or someone you are trying to impress with your knowledge or excellent vocabulary skills. While you must be cognoscente of pronoun usage, you must also be cognoscente of proper verb agreements. Part of being a dyslexic who has learned to live with this means you constantly think about what you are saying and writing and correcting yourself whenever you notice a problem.
WRITING
When writing letters, papers or memos, the same holds true. You may find that writing is easier for you to do as a dyslexic. E-mail can also be the easiest way for you to communicate.
TAKING STANDARDIZED TESTS
” Once you have answered your own question, underline the key phrases in the sentence. You should also look at how the question was asked and how you answered it. Those that do not have any problem with standardized tests will tell you that they never skip over questions without filling in an answer, they do not read into the questions and they do not fill in the wrong answer knowing what the right answer is.
