Endometriosis can be an infection or an illness of the reproductive system of a female wherein groups of cells from the uterus lining invade the different parts of the body. The ovaries, pelvic walls, and the abdominal cavities are the most affected areas.Endometriosis is diagnosed to those women who are in their twenties up to forties, women who never gave birth, and those who have had painful menstruation and infertility.
Doctors have it that endometriosios results from menstrual blood that flows from the uterus straight to the pelvic and abdominal cavities. This blood has clusters of urine cells. The cells can attach themselves to the organs, cavity walls, and ligaments. These endometrial clusters are stimulated to grow with the help of the oestrogen. It is the hormone that stimulates the growth of urine lining. Depending on where the clusters are located, endometriosis may generate symptoms such as irritation of the bladder, pain during sexual intercourse, and even severe menstrual cramps. This kind of disease can damage the ovaries and the other reproductive organs which will eventually lead to infertility.
While there is no exact endometriosis treatment, in a lot of patients, menopause (natural or surgical) will decrease the process. Endometriosis that is not so severe may not require any treatment.Doctors advise hormonal treatment to stop the illness. For patients who are in the reproductive age.In many severe cases, surgery is needed for treatment. For women who still want to conceive, doctors limit their surgery to the removal of the endometrial clusters. On the other hand, women who have no plans to get pregnant or are past the childbearing age may be able to undergo removal of the womb or hysterectomy.
